Job summary

Under supervision, you will implement IEP objectives, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to ensure a safe, engaging learning atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Skills: operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records; follow safety practices and procedures; administer basic first aid.
• Knowledge: basic math; read procedures; write routine documents; understand multi-step instructions; concepts of grammar, spelling, punctuation; cultural differences; health standards and hazards; recordkeeping.
• Abilities: schedule activities, gather data, work with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, adapt to changing priorities, organize tasks, work as part of a team, and problem-solve with data and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist, tutor, and train students with significant disabilities in classroom or similar learning environments; provide personal care assistance; perform classroom clerical tasks.
• Work under the teacher’s direction to enable participation in academic and functional life skills activities.
• Attend meetings (e.g., in-service training, workshops, IEPs) to gain skills and convey student needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide efficient, necessary, and appropriate assistance to students.
• Instruct students one-on-one or in small groups to support progress toward IEP goals.
• Maintain instructional materials and student files; modify materials or provide accommodations under supervision.
