Park County School District 6 seeks a Special Education Resource Para Educator to assist, tutor and train students with significant disabilities in a classroom setting. The role includes personal care assistance and clerical tasks to support the instructional process.
The position reports to the Building Principal and requires collaboration with teachers and case managers to implement IEP services and monitor student progress. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment; preparing and maintaining accurate records; adhering to safety practices and procedures; and administering basic first aid.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age appropriate activities; M.A.N.D.T. training; subject matter taught in assigned classrooms; stages of child development.; concepts of grammar, spelling and punctuation; cultural differences of student population; health standards and hazards; and recordkeeping and record retention practices.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting patience and compassion; working with frequent interruptions; adapting to changing work priorities; organizing tasks; setting priorities; and working as part of a team.
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 50% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Job related experience is desired.
High school diploma or equivalent.
District Proficiency Test or AA Degree or 60 college/university credits
