Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of classroom instructional experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with special needs/IDD
• Experience creating and implementing lesson plans
• Ability to adapt activities to different abilities and learning needs
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must meet required background check and training requirements

Responsibilities

• Create and follow engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Teach practical life skills that promote independence, including personal care, cooking, cleaning, money management, communication, and problem-solving.
• Develop and teach prevocational skills, including following directions, completing tasks, teamwork, communication, time management, and appropriate workplace behavior.
• Provide hands‑on instruction and encourage participants to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Support socialization and appropriate behavior in classroom and community settings.
• Participate in community outings, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities.
• Ability to drive 15 passenger van for community outings.
• Follow individual service plans and program requirements.
• Document participation, progress, and concerns as required.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.

The Instructor will provide meaningful, structured instruction focused on independence, life skills, socialization, prevocational skills, and community inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of classroom instructional experience.


• Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with special needs/IDD.
