Job summary

The Bindu Institute, LLC seeks a part-time Life Skills Coach to support veterans with neurological conditions in a community-based setting across Florida, Georgia, and Texas. You will help clients gain independence through personalized supports and access to community resources.

Responsibilities include advocacy, daily living skills coaching, transportation assistance, and facilitating social activities. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Reliable computer or device for daily documentation; MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader required.
• BS/BA in related field OR 1-2 years' experience working with adults who are developmentally disabled or related experience preferred.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Background check and driver’s record check.
• Reside within a reasonable commute to the client.
• Auto insurance: min $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 or $300,000 CSL.
• Military or veteran experience a plus.
• Must be able to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members.]

Responsibilities

• Provides positive support and advocacy for the client.
• Assists with identifying choices and helping clients make informed decisions.
• Maintains household organization and safe routines.
• Supports participation in recreation and community activities to promote socialization.
• Assists with community living and integration in various settings, including transportation.
• Helps clients engage in desired recreational and social activities within the community.
• Provides mobility support in home using adaptive aids and transportation.
• Develops communication and social skills with clients.
• Adheres to organizational guidelines and policies; maintains confidentiality.
• Completes daily progress notes and documents per policy.
• Monitors billable hours within client engagements.
• Participates in trainings and team meetings as required.
• Represents the organization with respect and dignity in all interactions.
• Identifies barriers or changes in function to plan proactive interventions.
• Assists clients in reintegrating with their communities to promote independence.
• Educates clients on problem-solving techniques and strategies.
• Accompanies clients to appointments to educate on community resources.
• Acts as a role model and maintains good relations with clients and families.
• Performs other duties to meet program goals.
