Job summary

Berkley Life Sciences, part of W. R. Berkley Corporation, seeks an underwriting professional to support new business and servicing for Emerging Account clients.

You will build broker relationships, analyze risks, draft pricing and marketing materials, and contribute to growth with underwriters and producers. Primary location is Ewing, NJ, with travel to build relationships; 2+ years underwriting experience in liability lines is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Analytical mind, adept at diving into account details to craft pricing and coverage that meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models, and customer needs.
• Minimum of 2 years underwriting or associate underwriting experience in products liability, property, workers compensation, automobile, and umbrella.
• Claims‑made experience a plus.
• Life Sciences Products Liability experience a plus.
• Travel opportunities, primarily to build relationships with assigned producers through service excellence and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Support new business production and servicing of Emerging Account business for an assigned group of producers while fostering strong producer partnerships and supporting overall growth.
• Build strong relationships with brokers through service excellence to meet or exceed financial goals, including growth, profit, retention, and new business.
• Solicit accounts, select and analyze risks, and draft corresponding documentation, pricing, and marketing of Berkley Life Sciences products and services for new and existing customers.
• Act as a key contributor to the team’s business development results for assigned producers.
• Identify opportunities for account rounding.
• Provide technical support to producers and insureds.
• Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes.
• Demonstrate continuous learning, including participation in underwriting training and life sciences industry education.
• Work collaboratively and effectively with underwriting teammates, operations, legal, home office underwriting, and claims.
