Job summary

Berkley Life Sciences is seeking an experienced underwriter to drive new business, renewals, and service for a defined producer group. You will work closely with multiple departments to ensure compliance and profitability while leveraging your life sciences knowledge.

You will review submissions, price appropriately, and manage a portfolio to meet budgeted goals. This role demands strong relationship skills, analytical thinking, and a customer-first mindset in a dynamic insurer environment.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to meet financial goals.
• Negotiate underwriting decisions within authority.
• Review new line/endorsement submissions within binding authority.
• Lead renewal process and prepare for renewals with producers.
• Manage assigned book to achieve budgeted rate, retention and growth.
• Execute pricing components and rating methodologies.
• Solicit accounts, conduct risk research, and price Berkley Life Sciences products.
• Assess and select risks in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Respond to coverage inquiries from producers.
• Stay compliant with procedures and workflow changes.
• Collaborate with underwriters, operations, legal, and claims.
