Job summary

HKA Enterprises, Inc. designs fire protection and life safety systems for facilities, delivering code-compliant solutions using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.

You will coordinate 2D and 3D models with architects and engineers, produce calculations and construction deliverables, and act as engineer of record on projects in Tempe. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering with the aim of PE licensure, and experience with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, NFPA codes, and fire alarm systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and the ability to attain PE licensure.
• At least 4 years of AutoCAD design experience.
• Knowledge and application of IFC, IBC, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements, NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems and manufacturers’ equipment, including VESDA systems.
• Design experience with fire alarm, VESDA systems, security CCTV, HPM, and leak detection.
• Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide code-compliant asset protection and fire life safety mitigation solutions for client facilities.
• Take ownership of projects as engineer of record, guide coworkers, and work with senior design professionals.
• Design fire sprinkler systems, gaseous-agent systems, fire detection and alarm systems, toxic-gas detection systems, smoke modeling, explosion prevention, smoke and leak detection, security CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
• Interface directly with client counterparts and state and local code officials during facility design.
• Use AutoCAD and Revit MEP to create and coordinate 2D and 3D models with architects and engineers.
• Prepare calculations, equipment sizes and quantities, equipment and construction specifications, network diagrams, and other construction deliverables for constructible designs.
