Responsibilities

• Serve as Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program coordinator and Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP) director.
• Develop a new publicly accessible epinephrine program and serve as coordinator.
• Coordinate maintenance of life safety equipment (AEDs, mass bleeding control, NARCAN).
• Coordinate integration of emergency stations across campus properties and promote familiarity with equipment.
• Represent the life safety program to on- and off-campus committees, agencies and stakeholders.
• Develop and conduct awareness-level trainings for a diverse campus community.
• Prepare reports, policies, procedures and documentation for the life safety program.
• Be a member of the Incident Management Team (IMT) and participate in emergency management trainings.
• Collaborate on EMS projects and participate in operational emergency response.

Job Description

Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $70,000

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at Binghamton University strives to cultivate a culture of resilience while operating at the forefront of emergency management practices in higher education. OEM develops and implements comprehensive strategies prioritizing proactive preparedness and mitigation, effective response and adaptive recovery.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Life Safety Program Manager plays a key role in supporting the University's emergency preparedness. This position focuses on managing all publicly accessible life safety equipment and providing training / outreach to a diverse campus community. The successful candidate must be able to thrive with both independent and group work, have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable acting as an ambassador for personal preparedness to all audiences.

Core Duties

• Serve as Binghamton University's Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program coordinator, and the Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP) program director, following NYS guidelines for these roles
• Develop a new publicly accessible epinephrine program based on NYS guidelines, and serve as the program coordinator
• Coordinate the maintenance of Binghamton University's publicly accessible life safety equipment, including but not limited to AEDs, mass bleeding control, and NARCAN®
• Coordinate the integration of emergency stations across campus properties, and promote familiarity with station equipment and technology
• Represent Binghamton University's life safety program to on- and off-campus committees, agencies and stakeholders
• Develop and conduct awareness‑level trainings and workshops targeted to a diverse campus community
• Prepare reports, policies, procedures and documentation that support the life safety program

Additional Emergency Management Duties

• Serve as a member of Binghamton University's Incident Management Team (IMT), a multidisciplinary group of employees trained to respond to complex campus emergencies
• Participate in the development and implementation of emergency management trainings, presentations and workshops
• Collaborate on emergency management projects and programs with OEM staff
• Participate in operational emergency response efforts as a representative of emergency management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least two years of professional work experience
• Valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in NYS
• Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends to support large, planned events and unplanned incidents

Preferred

• Demonstrated experience in program or project management
• Experience with life safety equipment
• Experience in emergency management
• Completion of FEMA IC S trainings 100, 200, 700 & 800
