Job summary

Berkshire Systems Group, Inc. is seeking a Life Safety Inspector to join our Fire Inspections Life Safety Division. You will perform on-site inspections of fire alarm systems for diverse clients, including schools, colleges, government entities, and businesses across Pennsylvania, with occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Smartphone for communication, documentation, GPS navigation, and scheduling
• Strong customer service skills for on-site client interactions
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operation manuals
• Basic understanding of circuitry and use of a multimeter
• Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities
• Detail-oriented approach to documentation
• Excellent organizational skills for managing tools, equipment, and records
• Training provided; 1 year industry experience preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints to locate system devices within buildings
• Use manufacturers’ manuals to operate panels
• Extract fire alarm event data from different panels
• Conduct inspections and tests for fire alarms, occasionally covering security, sprinkler, and communication systems
• Utilize inspection software to document findings per standards in a timely manner
• Support the Fire Inspections Life Safety Division tasks
