Job summary

NHC HealthCare Lexington in West Columbia, SC, seeks a Life Enrichment Director to craft and oversee engaging programs that enhance social connections, wellness, and quality of life for residents. This leadership role requires compassion, energy, and a passion for building a vibrant community.

You will assess resident interests, lead therapeutic activities, supervise staff and volunteers, and collaborate with other departments to support marketing and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience in activities planning for seniors is preferred.
• High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred but not required.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging activities and events.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn new applications.

Responsibilities

• Assess each resident to determine activity interests and needs.
• Provide therapeutic activities meeting resident interests and needs.
• Facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings.
• Supervise activities assistants including training and scheduling.
• Manage the center volunteer program including recruitment and recognition.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines for programming.
• Partner with other departments to support community marketing efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Highlights:

• Assess each individual patient to determine activity interests and needs.
• Provide therapeutic activities which meet the individual interests and
  needs of each patient.
• Facilitating monthly Resident Council meetings
• Supervising activities assistants to include training, scheduling, evaluation, etc.
• Managing the center volunteer program to include recruitment, training, scheduling and recognition
• Ensuring that all local, State and Federal guidelines regarding programming are met
• Partnering with other departments to support marketing efforts in the community
• Other duties as assigned

Experience

• Prior experience in Activities in Senior Living preferred
• High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in related field (Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, etc.) preferred but not required.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging activities and events.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs with the ability to learn new applications.
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of residents and staff.
• Ability to set-up/tear-down for activities; including, but not limited to, moving furniture and setting up folding tables.
