Job summary

Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard is seeking an Assisted Living Activity Assistant to design and lead programs that meet the diverse needs of residents. You will develop daily activities, guide both individual and group sessions, and help coordinate transport to external events in a caring, supportive environment.

The role emphasizes daily engagement, confidentiality, and collaboration with the Life Enrichment Director.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of aging and disability issues preferred.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and implements activities meet residents' needs across psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual domains.
• Leads one-on-ones, small and large group activities according to schedule.
• Assists with transportation and escorts for residents to community activities.
• Keeps residents informed by contributing to newsletters and calendars.
• Communicates changes in residents' condition to Life Enrichment Director.

Assisted Living Activity Assistant

The Activity Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. The program is intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The Activity Assistant supports and assists all necessary programming.

• Assists in the development and implementation of an innovative daily program for residents
• Leads and implements one-on-ones, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule
• Supports, encourages and directs independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups
• Supports the resident's abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity
• Demonstrates knowledge about residents in regard to background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity and attention span capability
• Communicates any changes in the residents' condition or behavior pattern to Life Enrichment Director
• Assist in the Planning, developing, organizing, and implementation of all residence activities.
• Develop suggestions and ideas for improving and expanding the Activities Program.

• Maintains a professional, warm and caring relationship with residents and families.
• Assist in arranging transportation and escorts for residents to and from outside and community activities.
• Assist with monthly newsletter and/or weekly calendar.
• Attend required on-going in-service training sessions and orientation.
• Driving residents in van as needed.
• Arrange Doctor visits as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues preferred.
