Job summary

Grand Pines Assisted Living Center in Michigan is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to lead activities that promote engagement and quality of life for residents in memory care neighborhoods. You will plan group and individual activities, coordinate with staff, and ensure materials are prepared for daily programs.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes, and follows directions in English.
• Experience assisting seniors or those with dementia preferred.
• Creative, engaging, and compassionate personality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Minimum age 17.
• Must pass state-mandated background screening and pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead group and individual activities in memory care neighborhoods (exercise, music, crafts, games).
• Engage residents through structured and spontaneous interactions.
• Prepare materials and supplies for activities.
• Support special events, outings, and family programming.
• Assist residents with meals as needed.

Position Purpose

The Life Enrichment Assistant supports and leads activities for residents in memory care neighborhoods, with a strong focus on engagement—while promoting dignity, purpose, and overall quality of life through meaningful experiences.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and carry out directions in English

• Experience working with seniors or individuals with dementia is preferred

• Creative, engaging and compassionate personality

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Minimum of 17 years of age

• Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening and pre-employment

Essential Functions

• Utilize GEMS: Positive Approach to Dementia Care

• Plan and lead group and individual activities in the memory care neighborhoods (exercise, music, crafts, games etc.)

• Engage residents through structured and spontaneous interactions

• Prepare materials and supplies for activities

• Support special events, outings and family programming

• Assist residents with meals as needed

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents in all aspects of personal care.

• Handle emotional and physical demands of caregiving
