Job summary

White Oak Manor Burlington is seeking an Activity Assistant to support programs for our 160-bed skilled nursing facility in Burlington, NC. The role involves coordinating activities, assisting residents with participation, and maintaining records.

A friendly, patient-oriented approach is essential. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating group and individual activities, assisting with care conferences, and ensuring a welcoming environment for residents and families.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Meet residents to assess program needs and preferences.
• Contribute to plan-of-care conferences.
• Assist with bulletin boards and calendars for activities.
• Support 1:1 activities and group events (bingo, concerts).
• Help residents to and from activities and maintain attendance logs.
• Document activities accurately and keep records current.
• Support Residents Council and foster positive relations in/out of the facility.
• Prepare decorations for seasonal events.
• Hands-on duties across the facility.

White Oak of Burlington has an Activity Assistant position that we would like to fill with the best person! We welcome you to join our team of dedicated individuals that enrich the lives of our patients and residents by promoting physical, mental and psychosocial well-being for our 160-bed skilled nursing facility.

The ideal candidate is flexible and innovative with a strong understanding of the physiological changes and resulting needs of the aging population. Must have patience, empathy, excellence in customer service and time managing skills. Must relate professionally with residents, staff, family members, visitors, and officials. Must provide a positive attitude, with friendly and approachable mannerisms.

A snapshot of duties include meeting with all patients/residents to determine program needs. Contribute to plan of care conferences. Assist with design, post and maintain attractive bulletin boards and calendars of scheduled activities. Assist with 1:1 activities (manicures/polish, reading, etc.) and conduct group activities (bingo, concerts, parties, etc.). Assist residents to and from activities. Keep accurate attendance and participation records of each activity and evaluate the program effectiveness and degree of resident involvement. Documentation is accurate and current. Assist with Residents Council and promote good public relations within and outside the facility. Set up decorations for seasonal holidays. This is a hand-on position that requires tasks throughout the entire facility.

Qualifications must have sufficient educational background, excellent communication skills and demonstrate teamwork. Experience in activity planning and socially confident to initiate one-one-one and group activities. Must have an understanding of the physiological changes and resulting needs of the aging population. Experience in long‑term care as an Activity Assistant is preferred but not required.
