Job summary

Uplift and Inspire in West Chester, PA is seeking a Life Coach (Direct Support Professional) to provide one-on-one support and encouragement to individuals building confidence and independence through community outings and activities.

The role requires a high school diploma (GED acceptable) and preferred experience in human services or related fields. Availability includes Mondays and Fridays 10 a.m.–4 p.m., with a flexible schedule and a commitment to compassionate, person-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in human services, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Prior Direct Support Professional or life coach experience is a plus.
• Experience supporting emotional regulation and de-escalation preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient demeanor.
• Ability to pass background checks and have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Availability to work Monday and Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support during community outings, recreation, shopping, and social activities.
• Help build everyday skills like ordering meals, making purchases, and communicating preferences.
• Follow a predictable daily plan while adapting activities to the participant’s needs.
• Use calm communication and positive reinforcement to support emotional regulation.
• Maintain supervision, safety, boundaries, and safe community participation.
• Provide transportation to planned activities according to procedures.
• Collaborate with participant, family, and support team and document progress and incidents.

About the Role:

Uplift and Inspire is looking for a passionate and dedicated Life Coach (Direct Support Professional) to join our team in West Chester, PA. This is a meaningful opportunity to provide one-on-one support, encouragement, and guidance to an individual building confidence and independence through community outings and activities. Schedule:

Monday and Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. — 12 hours per week

Responsibilities:

• Provide person-centered, one-on-one support during community outings, recreation, shopping, and social activities.
• Help build everyday skills such as ordering meals, making purchases, communicating preferences, and interacting with others.
• Follow a predictable daily plan while adapting activities to the participant’s choices, comfort, energy, and support needs.
• Use calm communication, positive reinforcement, and approved coping strategies to support emotional regulation and smooth transitions.
• Maintain attentive supervision and support traffic safety, personal boundaries, and safe community participation.
• Provide transportation to planned activities according to agency procedures.
• Collaborate with the participant, family, and support team, follow individualized support plans, and document progress, incidents, and daily activities accurately.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in human services, psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), caregiver, or life coach is a plus.
• Experience supporting emotional regulation and using de-escalation strategies preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient demeanor.
• Ability to remain attentive, engaged, and flexible while providing calm, respectful support.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Availability to consistently work Monday and Friday from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
