Uplift and Inspire in Elkins Park, PA seeks a dedicated Life Coach (DSP) to provide one-on-one Community Participation Support, helping a participant build confidence, friendships, and independence through community activities.

The role emphasizes person-centered support, AAC communication, work-readiness skills, and collaboration with families and support teams, with a flexible schedule of 16 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred in human services, psychology, or related field.
• Direct Support Professional experience is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Provide one-on-one support during community activities and social groups.
• Help build communication and social skills through greetings, choices, and interactions.
• Support communication with AAC devices and clear instructions.
• Assist with volunteering and work-readiness tasks such as following directions and organizing materials.
• Respect participant's routines, preferences, and need for breaks.
• Maintain safety, boundaries, and close supervision during activities.
• Provide transportation to planned activities in Delaware County per procedures.
• Document progress and daily activities accurately.

About the Role:

Uplift and Inspire is looking for a passionate and dedicated Life Coach (Direct Support Professional) to join our team in Elkins Park, PA. This position provides one-on-one Community Participation Support (CPS), helping an individual build confidence, friendships, communication skills, and independence through meaningful community activities. Schedule:

Monday (5 hours), Wednesday (6 hours), and Friday (5 hours) — 16 hours per week. Daily start and end times to be confirmed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide person-centered, one-on-one support during community activities, recreation, social groups, and volunteer opportunities.
• Help build communication and social skills through greetings, making choices, requesting assistance, and interacting with peers.
• Support communication using clear choices, simple instructions, gestures, and an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device as appropriate.
• Help explore meaningful volunteer opportunities and practice work-readiness skills such as following directions, organizing materials, and completing tasks.
• Follow predictable routines while respecting the participant’s choices, preferences, pace, and need for breaks.
• Maintain close supervision and support community safety, safe navigation, and appropriate boundaries.
• Provide transportation to planned activities, including community outings in Delaware County, according to agency procedures.
• Follow individualized support plans, collaborate with the family and support team, and document progress and daily activities accurately.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in human services, psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), caregiver, or community support professional is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient demeanor.
• Experience supporting individuals who use AAC devices or communicate with limited speech is a plus.
• Ability to remain attentive, engaged, and responsive throughout community activities.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Consistent availability on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
• Genuine commitment to uplifting and advocating for individuals in your care.
