Job Description

• Responsible for oversight and development of staff, including supervisory activities (e.g., performance evaluations, goal setting) as well as professional (technical, skill) and personal development.
• Oversees a specific actuarial function within the life/health/annuity actuarial division, including activities planning, visioning of future activities, and communicating results/recommendations to division and company leadership.
• Ensures work complies with applicable regulations and actuarial standards of practice, maintains current SOA Continuing Professional Development requirements, and ensures staff compliance.
• Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas, maintains current contact information for all employees, and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.
• Monitors industry trends and product profitability to ensure a competitive and valuable product suite for clients and the company.
• Leads the product development process to ensure products are competitive, profitable, and compliant with laws.
• Provides insights to the executive team regarding necessary product changes.
• Collaborates with valuation and underwriting teams to ensure alignment.
• Drives the development of newer actuaries to strengthen the division's bench.
