Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a Lieutenant at the East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, Texas to lead with integrity and inspire teams. You will supervise sergeants and officers, ensure custody and discipline, and align operations with MTC and Texas Department of Criminal Justice directives.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3 years in correctional or law enforcement with supervisory experience, plus relevant CJ coursework.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) years of full-time correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
• One year supervisory experience preferred or substitutable by Operational Review Sergeant experience.
• Thirty (30) semester hours in Criminal Justice may substitute for one year of non-supervisory experience.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

• Maintain custody and care of offenders and enforce order and discipline.
• Schedule staffing, training, and supervise staff in line with MTC and TDCJ directives.

Full time, 12-hour shift 6am-6:30pm or 6pm-6:30am rotational.

East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, Texas

We're seeking a dedicated Lieutenant to lead with integrity, inspire teams, and uphold excellence at the East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, Texas. Step into leadership and make a difference!

What you’ll do

You will directly supervise assigned sergeants and correctional officers. You’ll be responsible for the custody and care of offenders; maintaining order and discipline among offenders; scheduling; training; and supervising staff in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Essential functions

• Serve as shift supervisor. Conduct daily shift briefings to provide updated information and issuance of chemical agents.

• Maintain daily shift roster to ensure required posts are filled, address staffing shortages and post vacancies.

• Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees and offenders; schedule employees’ and offenders’ work and off-duty time; assist in formulating security and work procedures.

• Supervise and direct searches for contraband and provide security.

• Supervise and provide custody and security of offenders including observation of offenders and offenders assigned to work duty, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.

• Perform specific security functions including “pat” and “strip” searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions.

Education and experience requirements

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.

• Three (3) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience to include one (1) year in the supervision of employees.

• Operational Review Sergeant or Security Threat Group Sergeant experience may be substituted for one (1) year of the required supervisory experience.

• Thirty (30) semester hours with a minimum of six (6) semester hours in Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of required non-supervisory experience.

• Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
