Job summary

WGI in Huntsville, AL is seeking a LiDAR Technician II to perform mobile, static terrestrial, and UAS LiDAR data collection and processing across transportation, infrastructure, and mapping projects. The role blends field work with office processing, requiring experience with trajectory processing and QA/QC using RiPROCESS, TopoDOT, TerraSolid, and related software.

This is an in-office position with moderate travel.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of LiDAR collection and processing experience.
• Experience with mobile mapping and point cloud processing.
• Bachelor's degree in Geomatics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform mobile, static terrestrial, and UAS LiDAR collection operations
• Operate LiDAR systems in field environments
• Process GNSS/IMU trajectories using POSPac, or equivalent software
• Generate and manage calibrated point cloud datasets using RiPROCESS, TopoDOT, TerraSolid, or related software
• Perform initial alignment, registration, and calibration review under direction of senior staff
• Execute QA/QC procedures to verify accuracy, completeness, density, overlap, and project specifications
• Process, tile, archive, and manage large geospatial datasets and project deliverables
• Extract mapping features and support CAD/GIS integration workflows
• Develop efficient production workflows and assist with process improvement initiatives
• Troubleshoot field and office hardware, software, and data issues
• Coordinate field logistics, equipment preparation, and collection planning
• Support proposal efforts, technical documentation, and project reporting
• Mentor junior staff and assist with training initiatives
