The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Licensing Associate to evaluate and market intellectual property. Responsibilities include managing patent portfolios and facilitating licensing agreements, while establishing industry partnerships to promote UAB technologies.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences and three years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include a biology background and skills in market research, technical writing, and collaboration.

This position exists only in the UAB Research Foundation. Evaluates, protects and markets invented products, processes and/or intellectual property. Manages patent portfolios, coordinates and facilitates licensing negotiations and agreements for invented products, processes and/or intellectual property. Facilitates the creation of start‑up companies that are spun out of the University. Facilitates interinstitutional agreements between the University and sister institutions. Assist in the management of material transfer agreements coming into and out of the University along with consortium research agreements between UAB and other entities.
$70,425 – $90,000
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
