Job summary

Ground/ Water Treatment & Technology, LLC is seeking an Industrial Licensed Operator to join our Operations & Maintenance Services Team in Colonial Heights, VA. The role requires a valid wastewater license and at least 6 years of relevant experience.

You will operate and maintain treatment systems, coordinate with engineers and site managers, and lead O&M staff. The role may involve flexible hours and occasional OT.

Qualifications

• Current Industrial Wastewater Operator's License or equivalent (required).
• Minimum 6 years in industrial wastewater operations.
• Knowledge of major mechanical equipment and preventive maintenance.
• Experience with physical/chemical treatment processes; biological systems preferred.
• Willingness for flexible schedule; OT/weekends may be required.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and follow site safety rules.
• Operate and monitor treatment systems per permits and guidelines.

• Direct O&M staff and supervise subcontractors.
• Use maintenance software; prepare basic reports; proficient in Word/Excel/email.
• Lead troubleshooting and emergency response efforts.
• Prepare Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) as required.
• Record operation data and meter readings on forms.
• Operate, adjust, and monitor process equipment and chemical dosing.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies at facilities.
• Collect groundwater samples and perform field tests as required.
• Maintain production quality and records.
• Perform preventive maintenance with tools per O&M guidelines.

Overview

Ground / Water Treatment & Technology (GWTT) is seeking an Industrial Licensed Operator to join our Operations & Maintenance Services Team. The ideal candidate is dependable, initiative-taking, and communicates effectively.

Location: Colonial Heights, VA | Full Time

Salary Range: $75,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually

A valid wastewater license is required. A minimum of 6 years of relevant process and/or water treatment experience, strong critical thinking, and good communication skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Maintain personal safety and comply with all project/site safety requirements.
• Ensure treatment systems operate in compliance with permit equivalents.
• Interact with client organizations, including engineering departments, site managers, and consultants.
• Train, direct, and coordinate the work of operations and maintenance staff; oversee subcontractors and vendors as needed.
• Use computer-based maintenance programs; prepare basic reports; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
• Lead troubleshooting and emergency response efforts.
• Prepare Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) as required.
• Record operational data, meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
• Operate, inspect, adjust, and monitor process equipment, meters, gauges, and controls to maintain optimal operation across air, water, groundwater, wastewater, industrial wastewater, and leachate systems.
• Collect and/or supervise sampling of process and groundwater; perform low-flow groundwater sampling and field testing of water, soil, and air as required.
• Maintain consistent production quality and production/work records.
• Perform preventive maintenance using hand tools, power tools, and precision equipment per O&M guidelines.
• Adjust dosing of process chemicals (acids, bases, oxidizers, polymers, coagulants) using mixers, pumps, and metering devices.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies at various facilities and systems.

Qualifications

• Current Industrial Wastewater Operator's License or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in industrial wastewater operations with demonstrated success leveraging this knowledge base.
• Understanding of major mechanical equipment; ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Working knowledge of physical and chemical treatment processes; experience with biological systems preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper certificate and/or 8-hour refresher preferred.
• Flexible work schedule; overtime and weekend shifts may be required.
• Reliable transportation.
