Licensed Vocational Nurse

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications, treatments, and IVs as ordered by physicians
- Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of your assigned unit, ensuring Residents' Rights are maintained and Federal, State, and local standards are met
- Interpret policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, and other stakeholders
- Ensure that nursing personnel are following their job descriptions and that reference materials are maintained at the nurses' station
- Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of care plans, assessments, and treatment schedules
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure timely administration of medications and treatments
- Provide support and guidance to nursing personnel, including LPNs and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality care, resident safety, and satisfaction
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate records and reports
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing
- Valid State license to practice nursing
- IV certification preferred
- Ability to write and speak the English language in an understandable manner
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
- Leadership and supervisory ability, with a willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Physical, cognitive, and sensory requirements include walking, reaching, bending, grasping, pushing, and pulling, with the ability to lift and transfer a minimum of 50 pounds
