Job summary

Heartland Animal Hospital in Faribault, MN, is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our full-service animal health team. You will assist veterinarians in surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, and diagnostics, while educating clients and ensuring gentle, high-quality care for dogs and cats.

The role requires state licensure as a veterinary technician, the ability to lift patients, and a commitment to safety and accurate technologic workflows. We offer competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifting with assistance
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE
• Basic computer skills and dosage calculation
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery as needed
• Assist with outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs and weights, and provide client education
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms, and assist other team members
• Communicate with veterinarians and team; ensure warmth, courtesy and professionalism
