Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in the state of employment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; may require more with assistance.
• Familiar with PPE and OSHA safety techniques.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine, surgery and related tasks.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights for outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during anesthesia.
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam and lab areas; support peers and keep client areas organized.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism with clients and patients, showing compassion.
• Communicate with veterinarians and staff about patient plans and concerns.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
