Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician for our busy Critical Care unit. The role includes anesthesia induction/recovery, triage, and radiography in a fast-paced environment.

You will monitor vitals, assist Veterinarians, perform phlebotomy, place lines and feeding tubes, and mentor other staff while addressing client concerns with empathy.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Technician in ER/CCU preferred.
• Must be able to assist with anesthesia induction and recovery.
• Ability to work nights and weekends with differential pay.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR.
• Calculate dosages and administer medications.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospitalis hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $30.00 - $42.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment.

** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience*

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce,monitorand recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratoryrateand blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heartand respiratory rate, temperature, bloodpressureand oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identifypatients at riskforarrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place andmaintainfeeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Havea passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
