Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for relief across Washington hospitals. This part-time, on-site role offers the freedom to design your own schedule while supporting diverse teams and cases—from general practice to emergencies and specialty services.

You'll gain exposure to a wide range of hospitals and patients, with 3-5 shifts per week (8-12 hours). Training and mentorship opportunities are available, and compensation is $38–$41 per hour, depending on

Qualifications

  • LVT- Licensed Veterinary Technician is REQUIRED.
  • Emergency and Specialty Experience in addition to General Practice.
  • Possible overnight availability.
  • Reliable transportation and schedule flexibility.
  • Availability for 3-5 shifts per week (8-12 hours per shift).
  • Prior experience with training and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality care and educate clients.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and health histories.
  • Greet pet parents and prepare patients for discharge with instructions.
  • Assist in anesthesia, surgery, and sedation procedures.
  • Follow fear-free handling and safety protocols.

Role Responsibilities-department/hospital dependent:
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, accurate, and comprehensive medical records including accurate and relevant health history.
  • Readies patients for discharge, gathers medications, ensures relevant paperwork is prepared and effectively communicates discharge instructions to pet parents.
  • Support and perform general anesthesia and assist in surgery and anesthetic/sedation procedures
  • Use a fear free approach to handling patients in keeping with hospital safety protocols and core values.
  • Understands and completes in-patient and out-patient diagnostic tests and treatments requested by attending clinician.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience--$38-41/hr. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
