Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to provide relief support across our Washington hospitals. This part-time role offers schedule flexibility and exposure to a wide range of cases and specialties.

Ideal candidates have LVT credentials and emergency/specialty experience, with availability for 3-5 shifts per week (8-12 hour shifts). Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience.

Qualifications

• LVT certification required.
• Emergency and specialty experience alongside general practice.
• Overnight availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care and educate clients.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members.
• Maintain accurate medical records with health history.
• Prepare patients for discharge and communicate discharge instructions to pet parents.
• Support general anesthesia and assist in surgery.
• Use fear-free handling and maintain safety protocols.
• Perform in-patient and out-patient diagnostics and treatments as requested.
• Keep treatment areas clean and organized; follow safety protocols.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• LVT-Licensed Veterinary Technician-REQUIRED
• Emergency and Specialty Experience in addition to General Practice

Role Responsibilities -department/hospital Dependent

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members
• Assist in maintaining relevant, accurate, and comprehensive medical records including accurate and relevant health history.
• Readies patients for discharge, gathers medications, ensures relevant paperwork is prepared and effectively communicates discharge instructions to pet parents.
• Support and perform general anesthesia and assist in surgery and anesthetic/sedation procedures
• Use a fear free approach to handling patients in keeping with hospital safety protocols and core values.
• Understands and completes in-patient and out-patient diagnostic tests and treatments requested by attending clinician.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience--$38-41/hr. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
