Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to provide relief support across our Washington hospitals. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of cases and specialties while enjoying the freedom to design your own work week.

This part-time relief opportunity offers 3–5 shifts per week, with shifts ranging 8–12 hours, and overnight availability may be required. You will train and mentor team members and assist with patient care, exams, and anesthesia under veterinarians.

Qualifications

• LVT-Licensed Veterinary Technician is REQUIRED.
• Emergency and Specialty experience in addition to General Practice.
• Possible overnight availability.
• Reliable transportation and solid schedule flexibility.
• Availability for 3-5 shifts per week, 8–12 hours per shift.
• Prior experience with training and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members.
• Maintain accurate medical records and health histories.
• Readies patients for discharge, gathers medications, and communicates discharge instructions.
• Assist in anesthesia and surgeries, including sedation procedures.
• Use a fear-free approach and follow safety protocols.
• Perform in-patient and out-patient diagnostic tests and treatments as requested.
• Use safe restraint techniques and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
• Collaborate with teammates and support colleagues.

Role Responsibilities-department/hospital dependent:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members
• Assist in maintaining relevant, accurate, and comprehensive medical records including accurate and relevant health history.
• Readies patients for discharge, gathers medications, ensures relevant paperwork is prepared and effectively communicates discharge instructions to pet parents.
• Support and perform general anesthesia and assist in surgery and anesthetic/sedation procedures
• Use a fear free approach to handling patients in keeping with hospital safety protocols and core values.
• Understands and completes in-patient and out-patient diagnostic tests and treatments requested by attending clinician.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience--$38-41/hr. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
