Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health's Virginia Veterinary Centers in Short Pump, VA is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our 24/7 ER team. This part-time weekend position offers $35/hour plus a $3,000 sign-on bonus and weekend hours from 12pm to 12am.

You will work with high-acuity emergency cases, providing nursing care and advanced monitoring alongside a supportive team. Responsibilities include administering treatments, placing catheters, assisting with various tubes, documenting controlled

Qualifications

• Certified, Registered, or Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT).
• Emergency or critical care experience preferred.
• Strong technical and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Administer prescribed treatments, including meds, IV fluids, nutrition, wound care, and PT.
• Place and manage indwelling catheters (including central/PICC lines and urinary).
• Assist with IV catheters, nasogastric tubes, central lines, JP drains, thoracic tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Follow protocol for administration and documentation of controlled substances.
• Adhere to OSHA protocols and ensure trainings are completed on schedule.
• Collaborate with specialty services to carry out care plans and diagnostics.
• Prepare patients for discharge with home-care instructions and meds.

Licensed Veterinary Technician Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and medical stability throughout their stay.
• Administer prescribed treatments, including medications, IV fluids, nutritional support, wound care, and physical therapy exercises as directed.
• Place and manage indwelling catheters, including central lines, PICC lines, peripheral catheters, and urinary catheters.
• Assist in placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters, nasogastric tubes, central lines, JP drains, thoracic tubes, and esophageal feeding tubes.
• Understanding and able to follow protocol when administering and documenting controlled substances administered to patients.
• Following proper OSHA protocols and ensure OSHA related trainings are conducted by designated timelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and team members.
• Collaborate with specialty services (Neurology, Surgery, Anesthesia, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology) to carry out care plans and facilitate ongoing diagnostics.
• Prepare patients for discharge, including review of at-home care instructions and medication plans.
• Alert the DVM to any changes in patient status, including but not limited to pain levels, vital sign fluctuations, and unexpected clinical findings.
