BluePearl Pet Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for our Neurology Department. We offer a sign-on bonus up to $12,000 and optional relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Experience as Veterinary Technician in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergency cases and assess vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs; alert DVM as needed.
• Initiate CPR when indicated and manage at-risk patients.
• Conduct phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train other staff members.
• Provide compassionate client communication.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Neurology Department.

We are now offering a Sign-On Bonus for up to $12,000!

+ optional moving allowance if a qualified candidate is relocating!

Our 20,000-square-foot hospital underwent a full remodel of the ICU and reception entrance completed in summer 2022. The remodel of the ICU now houses a brand-new CT (64 slice). The hospital also houses an on-site MRI, full complement of orthopedic surgical equipment, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and arthroscopy. This hospital has an internal medicine service with state-of-the-art endoscopy, ultrasound, and complete ancillary radiographic diagnostic capabilities.

Pay:

$30.00 - $42.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
