Job summary

The Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle in Lynnwood, WA is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology team as a full-time specialist.

Candidates must be licensed or pending licensure; 1–2 years clinical experience; anesthesia experience preferred. You will assist veterinarians, maintain medical records, and support neurology exams and imaging.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) required or pending licensure.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience highly preferred – neurology experience is a bonus
  • Must have anesthesia experience

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist in maintaining medical records, including history taking.
  • Assist doctors with neurological examinations and restraining of patients with neurological disorders.
  • Perform radiographs and aseptic preparation for procedures.
  • Assist with MRI-related anesthesia and monitoring as needed.
  • Maintain sterile technique and assist with CSF collection.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

Experience & Skills Requirements

Role Responsibilities, Skills, And Knowledge
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, accurate, and comprehensive medical records, including relevant history taking.
  • Assisting doctors with neurological examinations while demonstrating proper handling and restraint of patients with neurological disorders.
  • Understanding the basic principles of seizure control, familiarity with the different medications used to treat epilepsy and be able to recognize/address seizure activity.
  • Able to recognize changes in mentation and alert the DVM.
  • Produce diagnostic thoracic and spinal radiographs.
  • Aseptic preparation of surgical site and sterile opening of surgical instruments.
  • Sterile preparation of CSF tap site and aseptic technique for CSF sample collection.
  • Calculating and administering analgesic CRI under the direction of DVM.
  • Anesthetic induction and monitoring for MRI’s and surgical procedures with or without use of a mechanical ventilator.
  • Catheter placement and maintenance: peripheral, central, arterial, and urinary.
  • Ability to perform CPR according to RECOVER Initiative standards.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow team members.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $27-38/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
