Job summary

Veterinary Specialty Center Seattle, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Neurology team in Lynnwood, WA. This full-time position supports veterinarians in delivering high-quality care, maintaining records, and assisting with neurological exams and imaging.

The ideal candidate is a licensed technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) or pending licensure with 1–2 years of clinical experience and anesthesia experience.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician required or pending licensure.
  • 1–2 years of clinical experience, neurology a bonus.
  • Must have anesthesia experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care and educate clients.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate medical records and relevant history.
  • Assist doctors with neurological examinations while handling patients safely.
  • Understand seizure control principles and recognize activity.
  • Produce diagnostic radiographs of thorax and spine.
  • Prepare sterile surgical areas and instruments and collect CSF samples.
  • Administer analgesic CRI under DVM direction and monitor anesthesia for MRIs.
  • Place and maintain catheters; perform CPR per RECOVER standards.
  • Maintain clean treatment areas and collaborate with team.

Experience & Skills Requirements

Role Responsibilities, Skills, and Knowledge
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assistinmaintainingrelevant,accurate, and comprehensive medicalrecords,including relevant history taking.
  • Assistingdoctors with neurological examinationswhiledemonstratingproper handling and restraint of patients with neurological disorders.
  • Understanding the basic principles of seizure control,familiarity with the different medications used to treat epilepsyand be able to recognize/address seizure activity.
  • Able to recognize changes in mentation and alert the DVM.
  • Produce diagnosticthoracic and spinal radiographs.
  • Aseptic preparationof surgical site and sterile opening of surgical instruments.
  • Sterile preparation of cerebral spinal fluid tap site and aseptic technique for CSF samplecollection.
  • Calculating and administering analgesic CRIunder the direction of DVM.
  • Anesthetic induction and monitoring forMRI’s and surgical procedureswith or without use of a mechanical ventilator.
  • Catheter placement and maintenance: peripheral, central,arterial,and urinary.
  • Ability to perform CPR according to RECOVER Initiative standards.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow team members.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $27-38/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
