What you’ll do
  • Provide nursing care before, during, and after surgery.
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs, communicating changes promptly to the veterinarian.
  • Place catheters, collect samples, administer prescribed medications, and assist with diagnostic testing.
  • Support veterinarians during public appointments and surgical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and controlled‑substance documentation.
  • Explain home care and discharge instructions to clients.
  • Work with the clinical team to maintain safe, organized treatment and surgical spaces.
What we’re looking for

Prior shelter experience is not required. Spanish language skills are welcome but not required. Technicians credentialed in other states and recent veterinary technology graduates are encouraged to apply.

Pay and benefits
  • $26–$30 per hour, based on relevant experience and skills.
  • 120 hours of PTO annually to start, increasing with tenure to a maximum of 220 hours.

  • WVHS covers 75% of insurance premiums.
  • Retirement matching of up to 3.5%, beginning after six months of employment.
