Job summary

Lien Animal Clinic in Seattle is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join our fast-paced small animal practice. You will support veterinarians, manage patient flow, and maintain medical records with a high standard of care.

Responsibilities include anesthesia monitoring, dental radiography, lab work, and client communication. We value teamwork, empathy, and ongoing professional growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Washington State Veterinary Technician license.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a LVT.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in venipuncture, IV placement, patient monitoring, anesthesia monitoring, dental procedures, and lab sample handling.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality care and educate clients during outpatient appointments.
  • Assist medical team to maximize productivity and patient flow.
  • Obtain patient histories and document findings; maintain medical records.
  • Perform anesthesia and monitoring, dentistry and dental radiographs, and nursing care for hospitalized patients.
  • Maintain clean, sterile treatment areas and labs; assist in exams and procedures.
  • Prepare patients, medications and equipment for examinations and surgeries.

Role Description

The Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is a key member of our medical team, providing primary support to our veterinarians, fellow support staff and patients. They must be able to pay attention to and maintain very high standards of patient care. Excellent technical medical skills are required. The Licensed Veterinary Technician must be able to communicate well with clients, showing care and concern for their pets. In addition, the technician must be able to organize and delegate the activities in the downstairs treatment room and communicate well with other staff members. The role of the Licensed Veterinary Technician can be challenging and requires excellent interpersonal skills dealing with both clients and staff. They must be able to work independently, pay attention to detail and respond quickly and calmly to crisis.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients during outpatient appointments.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Obtain patient histories, accurately document findings, and maintain complete medical records.
  • Perform anesthesia and sedation induction and monitoring, dentistry including dental radiographs and charting, obtain diagnostic radiographs, and provide nursing care as instructed by the DVM to hospitalized patients.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, surgical suite, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Prepare patients, medications and equipment for examinations, surgery, dentistry and sedated procedures.
  • Collect and prepare patient lab samples for in-house and reference lab diagnostic screening.
  • Mentor and support veterinary assistants and fellow technicians while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Experience & Skills Requirements
  • Current Washington State Veterinary Technician license.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a LVT
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in:
    • Venipuncture
    • IV catheter placement
    • Patient monitoring
    • Endotracheal intubation
    • Anesthesia monitoring
    • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
    • Laboratory sample collection and processing
  • Able to enter medical notes and maintain medical records.
  • Able to lift 40lbs unassisted.
  • Strong desire to practice empathetic, gold standard medicine benefiting our patients through all life stages.

Schedule

Full-time position (34–36 hours/week) working four days per week. No weekends or overnight shifts.
