Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Monterey, CA is seeking an exceptional Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our ER team. The role requires working Thursday through Sunday with a competitive hourly pay range and shift differentials for nights and weekends.

You will Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiographs, interpret vitals, and assist veterinarians with critical cases. Join a fast-paced, mentoring environment focused on remarkable pet care.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Veterinary Technician status.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced emergency setting.
• Willingness to work in Monterey, CA and odd hours.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals like temperature and heart rate.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert the veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical dosing and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in peripheral vessels.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns.

Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Pay: $25.63 - $49.19 / hr.

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $5.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce,monitorand recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratoryrateand blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heartand respiratory rate, temperature, bloodpressureand oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identifypatients at riskforarrest andinitiateCPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place andmaintainfeeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Havea passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
