Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow AVHS policies and city/state requirements regarding animal welfare.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, volunteers, and other departments.
• Act in accordance with Fear Free and related animal handling practices.
• Provide daily care of animals including feeding, bathing, hygiene, exercise, and behavior support.
• Maintain animal and facility spaces following disease control protocols (cleaning, laundry, etc.).
• Perform examinations, health tests, vaccinations, and parasite treatments.
• Administer anesthesia with monitoring, surgery support, and other medical treatments.
• Administer controlled substances with oversight.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of and commitment to animal welfare issues.* Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.**Skills and Experience:*** Work experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
