Job summary

Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to support our veterinary team in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures while ensuring high standards of patient care and accurate hospital documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a NY State LVT license, a degree in veterinary technology, and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology from an accredited program required.
• Current New York State Veterinary Technician license required.
• Minimum of one year of veterinary experience required.
• At least one year as a Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred.
• Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to canine and feline patients.
• Assist veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Perform administrative duties: communication with clients about admissions, discharges, hospitalizations, and medications.
• Enter accurate patient and client information into EzyVet and Smart Flow.
• Obtain patient histories and communicate with clients regarding patient care and updates.
• Administer medications and injections per hospital policy.
• Perform emergency procedures within scope of LVTX role.
• Safely handle and restrain patients as needed.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia using multiparameter monitoring equipment.
• Monitor and recover patients following anesthesia and surgery.
• Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters.
• Place nasogastric tubes and central lines.
• Obtain radiographs and assist with CT/MRI procedures.
• Administer canine and feline blood products.
• Cross-train in general and specialty surgeries; oncology and critical care.
• Assist with training/licensed staff and maintain medical records.
