Alliance Animal Health at Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our 60‑year trusted Western NY team. You will support veterinarians, care for canine and feline patients, handle admissions/discharges, and maintain accurate patient records in EzyVet and Smart Flow.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology from an accredited program is required.
• Current New York State Veterinary Technician license is required.
• Minimum of one year of veterinary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high‑quality care to canine and feline patients.
• Assist veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Communicate with clients regarding admissions, discharges, and medications.
• Enter patient data into EzyVet and Smart Flow accurately.
• Administer medications and injections per hospital policy.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and monitor post‑operative recovery.
• Cross‑train in surgery, oncology, internal medicine, and critical care.

Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians are dedicated team members who provide high-quality veterinary care in collaboration with our veterinarians. In this role, you will support the medical team, promote the health and well-being of our patients, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the hospital.

Job duties includes, but are not limited to:

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to canine and feline patients
• Assist veterinarians with medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Communicating with clients regarding admissions, discharges, hospitalizations, and medications.
• Entering accurate patient and client information into EzyVet and Smart Flow, including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, treatments, and other relevant information.
• Obtain patient histories and communicate with clients regarding patient care, hospitalization updates, medications, and diagnostic results.
• Administer oral, intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications and injections in accordance with hospital policy.
• Perform emergency procedures within the scope of the Licensed Veterinary Technician role.
• Safely handle and restrain patients as needed.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia using multiparameter monitoring equipment.
• Monitor and recover patients following anesthesia and surgical procedures.
• Perform venipuncture for blood collection and place intravenous catheters.
• Place nasogastric tubes, central lines, jugular catheters, and urinary catheters.
• Obtain digital radiographs and monitor patients during CT and MRI procedures.
• Administer canine and feline blood products.
• Cross-train in general surgery, specialty surgery, oncology, internal medicine, neurology, and critical care.
• Assist with the training and development of Licensed Veterinary Technicians and other patient care team members.
• Perform clinical laboratory procedures, including fecal flotation examinations, heartworm testing, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures.
• Maintain laboratory records and ensure test results are appropriately documented and communicated.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the uses, dosages, administration, and potential side effects of commonly prescribed medications.
• Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with veterinary orders, hospital policies, and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Perform all duties in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and established medical protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology from an accredited program required.
• Current New York State Veterinary Technician license required.
• Minimum of one year of veterinary experience required.
• At least one year of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred.
