Role Description

The Licensed Veterinary Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at our Eastchester, NY hospital. This role includes assisting veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures, including safe patient handling and monitoring vital signs. Daily responsibilities involve administering medications and vaccinations, performing laboratory tests, collecting samples, and maintaining accurate medical records. The technician will support anesthetic monitoring, dental procedures, and imaging, while ensuring animals are comfortable and cared for before and after procedures. The role also includes educating clients on pet care, preventive health, and treatment plans, maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, and collaborating with the veterinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Strong Animal Care and Pet Care skills, including safe handling, restraint, and compassionate patient care.
• Proficiency in Veterinary Technology, including lab work, imaging support, medication administration, and medical record management.
• Experience or training in Anesthesiology, including monitoring anesthesia, pain management, and post-operative patient support.
• Effective Client Education skills, with the ability to explain treatment plans, home care instructions, and preventive health in a clear, supportive manner.
• Current state license as a Veterinary Technician (or eligibility to obtain licensure in New York).
• Experience in a small animal practice; comfort working with dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and exotic small mammals is preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with veterinary practice management software are beneficial.
