Job summary

Elk Creek Animal Hospital of Hikes Point in Louisville, KY seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join a two-doctor practice. Enjoy a four-day workweek and time to reconnect with family while delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent education and training.
• Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician credentials are required.
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection.
• Run in-house lab tests including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and fecals.
• Support surgical and dental procedures, including prep, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care.
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs during procedures.
• Provide post-operative care and monitor patients throughout recovery.
• Educate clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care.
• Accurately document patient care and treatments in the medical record.
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to maintain efficient workflow.

Our Hikes Point hospital is one of three Elk Creek Animal Hospital locations, giving team members the opportunity to explore our other locations if interested and pick up additional hours when desired. We’re looking for a Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician who brings strong technical skills, compassion, and a collaborative approach to patient care.

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

What Our Veterinary Technicians Bring
