Job summary

Locust Valley Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to support our surgical team in Locust Valley, NY. You will perform nursing duties, assist with anesthesia, and help ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, collaborative hospital.

The ideal candidate holds a NY LVT license, has at least 3 years in veterinary medicine, and demonstrates strong communication and teamwork. The role offers full-time hours and competitive compensation with benefits.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in good standing.
• 3 years of veterinary medicine experience.
• Surgical or anesthesia experience preferred.
• General practice or specialty experience is a plus.
• Ability to lift and restrain animals (over 40 pounds with assistance).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care including restraints, catheter placement, postoperative monitoring, wound care, and bandage changes.
• Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures: prep, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and recovery care.
• Monitor vital signs and ensure patient safety during surgeries.
• Perform diagnostic and laboratory procedures: blood collection, urinalysis, cytology, in-house testing.
• Prepare and maintain surgical suites, equipment and instruments.
• Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain accurate medical records and use practice management software.
• Educate clients on postoperative care, medications and follow-up instructions.
• Ensure a clean, organized and safe environment.

Here is What Your day May Consist of:

• Providing exceptional nursing care, including patient restraint, catheter placement, postoperative monitoring, wound care, and bandage changes.

Here is What You Will Bring to the Position:
