Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in West Islip, NY, is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (Internal Medicine) to join our team, delivering high‑quality patient care and outstanding client service.

Responsibilities include animal restraint, blood draws, catheter placement, lab work, radiography, anesthesia administration, and surgical support. This 24/7 emergency/specialty facility values teamwork, growth, and local autonomy within a national framework.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• NYS license required; eligibility for licensing accepted.
• Anesthesia experience required.
• General knowledge of instruments and supplies.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Proficiency in proper animal restraint.
• Draw blood and place catheters (jugular and femoral).
• Laboratory procedures including fecal assays and urinalysis.
• Radiographic technique and positioning.
• Administer IV drugs and anesthesia; monitor patients.
• Maintain kennels, prep rooms and surgery areas.
• Assist in surgery as directed by the veterinary doctor.
• Inventory management and client education.
• Maintain medical records and use veterinary software.
