Job summary

McKenney's, Inc. in Atlanta seeks a licensed Structural Engineer (PE) to support our mechanical and plumbing operations embedded with project teams.

You will apply sound engineering judgment to deliver safe, code-compliant structural solutions for pump and piping systems. Responsibilities include designing and sealing calculations, coordinating with field teams, and ensuring constructibility and schedule alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar.
• Registered Professional Engineer.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing structural supports for mechanical and piping systems along with seismic and wind restraints.

Responsibilities

• Design and seal structural calculations and details for pump skids, piping skids, and packaged mechanical systems.
• Engineer pipe support systems including gravity, lateral, seismic, and thermal considerations.
• Design seismic restraint systems for ductwork, piping, plumbing, and mechanical equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Perform wind load analysis and design wind restraint systems for rooftop and exterior mechanical equipment.
• Review delegated design submittals and shop drawings related to structural supports and restraints.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, seismic requirements, wind criteria, and referenced standards (IBC, ASCE 7, SMACNA, MSS, etc.).
• Provide timely engineering support to operations teams to maintain construction schedules and address field conditions.
• Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams, general contractors, and other trades as required.
• Perform site visits to validate existing conditions, review installations, and support issue resolution.
• Clearly communicate engineering intent to non structural audiences including project managers, superintendents, fabricators, and installers.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to standardize details, improve constructability, and reduce risk.
