Job summary

Uncommon Schools in New York is seeking a School Social Worker to provide crisis intervention, counseling, and case management to support students and families.

You will collaborate with educators and community partners, ensure compliance with NYDOE standards, and contribute to a positive school culture aligned with Uncommon's beliefs and educational philosophy. The role requires Master’s in Social Work, LMSW or LCSW licensure, NYDOE certification, and prior urban school experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work with LMSW or LCSW licensure.
• NYDOE School Social Worker Certification required.
• Urban school experience preferred.
• Drive to improve students’ minds and lives both in and out of the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and behavior management to return students to classrooms.
• Deliver individual and group counseling (school-based and mandated).
• Develop and implement social-emotional development curricula for students.
• Refer, monitor, and evaluate individuals and families to external resources.
• Maintain records, documentation, and compliance activities.
