Job summary

Interim HealthCare of NEPA seeks a Licensed School Social Worker (LSW) / School Based Social Worker to support Lackawanna County Schools. This role provides mental health services, counseling, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators.

Work hours align with school day Mon-Fri, approximately 7 hours daily, with unpaid holidays; benefits include health insurance after 90 days, accrued PTO, and weekly pay via direct deposit or paper check.

Qualifications

• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in PA is required.
• Master’s degree in Social Work is required.
• PK-12 School Social Worker Educational Specialist certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of student functioning, history, family and community context.
• Develop interventions to improve student learning.
• Create intervention plans aligned with school guidelines.
• Assist in planning therapeutic and behavioral activities.
• Provide crisis support and participate in threat assessment.
• Deliver individual and group counseling and classroom support.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community resources.

Job details for the School Social Worker (LSW):

• Up to $55 per hour
• School hours M-F; 7 hours per day
• UNPAID holidays, weekends, school vacations, etc
• length of assignment following academic calendar of district
• Health Insurance after 90 days

School Social Workers LSW are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy.

Minimum Responsibilities of the School Social Worker (LSW):

• Conduct assessments of student functioning, developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior, and cultural factors that may influence learning.
• Use student, family, school, and community assessment to develop appropriate interventions to improve student learning.
• Develop intervention plans consistent with School Social Worker guidelines to meet student needs, strengths, social and cognitive functioning, and cultural experiences.
• Assist in the planning of therapeutic, remedial, and behavioral modification activities provided by the educational agency.
• Provide crisis and emergency assistance including support to students in need and participation in threat assessment and related initiatives.
• Provide direct interventions to students, including individual and group therapy, counseling, and educational and informational programs.
• Consult and collaborate with educational agency personnel, parents, and community resources in areas that impact student learning (e.g., mental health, behavior management, school safety, diversity, crisis management, bullying prevention, child abuse, and neglect).

Minimum Requirements of the School Social Worker:

• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) through the state of Pennsylvania; required
• Master’s degree in Social Work; required
• PK-12 School Social Worker Educational Specialist certificate; preferred
• Willing to undergo pre-employment screenings
