Job summary

City Facilities Management is seeking a licensed RHVAC Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial environments across Massachusetts. The role requires independent work, strong problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, system diagnostics, on-site installations, and effective communication with clients.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license; must pass DMV check, drug screening and background check.
• Refrigeration license required as defined by state regulations; EPA certification required.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification within 30 days of employment (company provided training available).
• High school diploma or equivalent; RHVAC education is a plus.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or formal RHVAC training program.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance: change filters, inspect refrigerant levels, calibrate sensors, check for leaks.
• Lubricate components, check system pressure, replace worn-out parts.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC/refrigeration issues; provide repairs and part replacements.
• Install new HVAC/refrigeration systems (compressors, coils, RTUs, walk-ins) per code and safety rules.
• Communicate with clients about service issues, solutions, and system improvement recommendations.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations; ensure compliance with codes and environmental regs; use lockout/tagout.
• Maintain service records in CMMS; complete warranty/contract paperwork and inventory reports.
