Job summary

Center for Family Services is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center, a 24-hour psychiatric crisis center for adults.

The RN will perform assessments, record vital signs, administer treatments and medications, manage medication prior authorizations, and collaborate with medical staff to support patient care and family needs.

Qualifications

• Accredited RN program completed.
• Current New Jersey RN licensure.
• CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
• Driver's license with a good driving record.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience in behavioral health or related setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission nursing assessment for stabilization center consumers.
• Record vital signs and monitor health status.
• Administer treatments, injections and medications as ordered.
• Maintain medication inventory and assist with prior authorizations.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other providers to support care.

Salary: $93,000 per year

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

Center For Family Services is seeking experienced and professional Registered Nurse for the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center. This is a24-hour psychiatric crisis center for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center provides a nurturing and supportive environment where our consumers can receive therapeutic interventions for up to 24 hours

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse may perform the following responsibilities within their scope of practice and in accordance with applicable licensing requirements, regulatory standards, agency policy, and clinical supervision requirements:

• Complete Nursing Assessment of each consumer upon admission to the stabilization center.
• Completes and records vital signs including, but not limited to height, weight and blood pressure.
• Perform CLIA Waived rapid laboratory health and wellness tests such as pregnancy, blood sugar, urine drug screen and COVID-19.
• Administers treatments, injections and medications as ordered under the supervision of qualified medical staff.
• Maintains inventory of syringes and injection supplies.
• Helps consumers improve their coping abilities and knowledge of treatment, medication, and healthy lifestyle.
• Works with consumer's families to help improve the patient's abilities & help them deal with family member's mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
• Collaborate with other medical providers, including medical specialists, for consumers.
• Obtain Release of Information from consumer for the provider.
• Manage medication prior authorizations when necessary.
• Ensure that the Center's infection control activities operate in accordance with all regulatory guidelines.
• Provide patient care in a safe, comfortable, and private environment.
• Communicate in an attentive and individualized manner in every encounter.
• Provide preventive care information that matches patient age, gender and health status.
• Assists medical staff with completion of required medical forms, monitoring of laboratory requirements and results.
• Document care provided or procedures performed accurately on consumer records in a timely manner.
• Complete incident reports according to policy in a timely, accurate manner.
• Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality consumer care.
• Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage consumer behavior.
• Participate in required staff trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
• Participate in Center and Program performance improvement activities.
• Support the development, review, and implementation of consumer Crisis Plans as appropriate and within scope of practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned within their scope of practice and in accordance with program policies, training, and regulatory requirements
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Successful completion of an accredited, certified RN program.
• Current State of New Jersey RN licensure.
• CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
• Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years.
• Minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing experience in a behavioral health, psychiatric crisis, substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder, intellectual/developmental disability, or related clinical setting. Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and individuals with substance use disorder is required.
