Merakey in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Dispensing LPN to provide medication management and clinical care in our Drug & Alcohol Recovery Program. You will dispense methadone, chart daily activity, and monitor patient responses within state and federal regulations.

This PRN role requires an accredited practical/vocational nursing program graduate with PA LPN/RN license, CPR, and at least one year of nursing and narcotics-dispensing experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited practical/vocational nursing program.
• Current PA license as an LPN or RN.
• 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Minimum one year experience dispensing narcotics for opioid treatment.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Administer/dispense methadone per State and Federal Guidelines.
• Maintain accurate medication records and daily charts.
• Assess client response to treatment and dosage.
• Ensure treatment plan compliance by physician/medical director.
• Collect specimens for point-of-care testing and external labs.
• Monitor TB, HIV, Hep C testing and provide referrals when needed.
• Provide emergency care as needed (CPR, emergency medications).

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited practical/vocational nursing program
• Current license as an LPN or RN in the Commonwealth of PA
• 1 year of nursing experience is required
• Minimum one (1) year experience with dispensing narcotic medication required, preferably in substance abuse treatment including treatment of opioid dependence
• Current CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with drawing labs, performing EKGs, wound care, and triage is preferred.
• Experience with chemically dependent population is preferred

Join our team at our Drug & Alcohol Recovery Program in Philadelphia, PA. as a Dispensing LPN!

You will play a critical role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey by providing medication management, health monitoring, and compassionate clinical care while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Your work will help promote recovery, wellness, and hope for those we serve.

As a Dispensing LPN, you are responsible for assisting in all areas of client care in the opioid treatment program and in compliance with all with Pennsylvania State and Federal laws and regulations.

The LPN will ensure that medication is dispensed to clients as prescribed, chart daily, and will monitor client’s response to treatment and medication dosage.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Administer/dispense methadone per State and Federal Guidelines
• Ensure adequate recording of the administration/dispensing transaction
• Ensure that the treatment plan of the physician and/or medical director is being followed
• Assess client response to treatment and medication dosage/interactions
• Maintain all medical records including but not limited to individual charts, daily medicationcharts, dosage records, progress notes, Doctor’s orders, etc., as required
• Collect and prepare client specimens for point of care testing/external lab analysis
• Monitor tuberculosis, HIV, and Hep C testing for all individuals, including making outside referrals when necessary
• Provide emergency care as needed (CPR, PMAB, Emergency Medications)
