Employee Role:

The Private Duty Nurse (PDN) is part of the client care team, providing skilled nursing services directly or through agency placement in clients' homes. The PDN LPN works under the supervision of the Clinical Manager.

Wage/Hour Classification:

Non-exempt

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday, 3PM to 11PM

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat clients according to their needs under supervision.
• Provide continuity of care and emotional support to clients and families.
• Address psychosocial needs resourcefully.
• Communicate client rights and responsibilities clearly.
• Make sound nursing judgments.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Manage client services effectively.
• Use equipment competently.
• Communicate client care information per agency policies.
• Monitor and report changes in client conditions and incidents immediately.
• Document all communications and care activities timely to ensure continuity.
• Build relationships to promote compliance and safety.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Ensure high customer service standards and satisfaction.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols.
• Participate in staff development and community outreach.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

ADA Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb as needed.
• Use hands for tasks, reach overhead or beyond mid-line.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Lift, push, pull, or carry at least 25 pounds.
• Stoop and bend up to 2.5 hours per shift.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Licensed as an LPN or RN by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, in good standing.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum one year of home care experience; additional hospital experience preferred.
• Availability for varying hours; full-time is at least 30 hours/week.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and computer skills.
• Bilingual skills preferred.
