Summary

The Wayne Initiative for School Health (WISH) Registered Nurse delivers healthcare to students in a school-based adolescent health program. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, teaching, and counseling. The RN works as part of a health team under the supervision of the Program Director and Nurse Practitioner.

The WISH program aims to provide affordable, accessible physical and mental health services to adolescents, advocating for children's health rights and addressing diverse needs. The goal is to promote healthy lifestyles and support students' success in school through comprehensive healthcare services.

Responsibilities

• Support the WISH school health team by providing and documenting nursing care according to established standards.
• Provide patient care and education, coordinate services with other providers, and document all interactions accurately in the EHR.
• Demonstrate respect and professionalism towards patients, staff, and school personnel.
• Establish effective relationships with school administration and staff.
• Prepare patients for examination, including recording vital signs, medication history, and chief complaints.
• Triages patients per protocols, manages phone communications, and documents all activities.
• Administer injections, perform screenings, and educate patients on their health conditions.
• Manage standing orders, schedule tests and follow-up visits, and assist patients with external resources.
• Conduct outreach, follow up on test results, and monitor referral statuses.
• Contribute to quality improvement data collection and meet clinic performance measures.
• Order supplies and vaccines, maintain equipment, and assist with staff orientation.
• Stay informed on current coding, regulations, and policies.
• Support smooth clinic operations through teamwork and communication with Nurse Practitioners and school administration.
• Participate in ongoing education and training.

Other Information

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN or Master's preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current RN license in North Carolina; BLS certification required.

Experience: 2-3 years working with adolescents in healthcare settings preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of adolescent health, community resources, cultural sensitivity, and proficiency with MS Office and EMR.

Additional Details

Work Type: Full Time, Remote, 35 hours/week, Day schedule. Location: WAYNE MED. Exempt from overtime.
