Job summary

New York State Department of Health is seeking an LPN to provide bedside care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and reporting changes in residents’ conditions in a long-term care setting.

They will prepare and apply simple dressings; bathe and feed resident; and care for residents and their quarters by performing such tasks as making beds, changing linen, lifting and moving residents, and caring for their personal effects.

Minimum Qualifications

Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at St. Albans employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 8 or above, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Licensed Practical Nurse.

Open Competitive NY HELPS Qualifications

A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR an application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with long-term care Facility experience.

Posted salary range ($70,376 - $74,963 includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 10, plus a geographic pay differential of $13,000 in addition to $4,150 of Downstate Adjustment.

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $825 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.
